Amina J. Mohammed stands as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished global diplomats, currently serving as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group. Through her leadership, she played a key role in shaping the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, initiatives that promote economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability worldwide.
Before her global appointment, she served Nigeria as Minister of Environment, where she mobilized stakeholders to launch the historic Ogoniland environmental clean-up, demonstrating strong commitment to environmental protection and national development.
